Here’s some of our recommendations and they’re all within walking (or pram pushing) distance to the Hotel!

Mures Lower Deck

Fish, Chips and Ice Cream- need we say more? This Hobart institution has been a hit with both locals and tourists for decades. Casual style dining with highchairs available, change table and sea themed colouring sheets, it ticks a lot of boxes when out and about with little ones. Conveniently adjacent to the Tasman Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), you can make a day out of it between the two stops. Open early until late with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and just across the road from the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Victoria Dock.

Machine Laundry Café

For over 25 years this café has been serving up great coffee, banging brunch along with fresh new flavours for those looking for something other than eggs benny (although the eggs benny is really good!) Think house made granola, “FAT” ricotta hotcakes, breakfast sandwiches and small serves are available of most dishes. Casual style seating and bright colours give it a real retro feel. Grab an outside table for a great view of the square's bustling coming and goings. Open every day until 2.30PM, 12 Salamanca Square, Battery Point.

Harbour Lights Cafe

This popular little Italian spot serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner in a historic 1800s building with seating both inside and out. There are kids’ menus for all mealtimes with options for $15 or less, and of course ice cream available for dessert. Located 8 minutes’ walk away from the Hotel at 29 Morrison Street on the Waterfront, overlooking Brooke Street Pier and Franklin Wharf.

Preachers

Historic cottage house turned into a bar with an outdoor beer garden serving craft beers, cocktails and burgers. There’s an old bus parked in the courtyard for extra seating (and playtime) the outdoor area is fully enclosed and there are shaded seating options. Open daily from midday until late, just a 13-minute stroll from the hotel, halfway between Salamanca and Battery Point at 5 Knopwood Street.

Grab a booth at the Sushi Train

The Sush Track is an interactive dining experience. Grab your plates off the train or order other items off the tablet and have them delivered to you.  With over 100+ menu items, including hot items, desserts, drinks and an a la carte menu, there's plenty to choose from!
